About Mingsha Mountain Crescent Moon Spring

The Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area in Jiuquan City, commonly referred to as the Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring Scenic Area, is located 5 kilometers south of Dunhuang City in Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. It covers an area of 76.82 square kilometers, with a core scenic area spanning 12.79 square kilometers. Known worldwide for its unique desert spectacle where mountains and springs coexist, and sand and water thrive together, it is celebrated as “one of the most breathtaking landscapes beyond the Great Wall.” The scenic area features three entrances: the Central Gate, the Eastern Gate, and the Western Gate. The Eastern and Western gates officially opened in 2024. By June 2024, ticket sales had exceeded 1 million visitors, and online exposure had surpassed 500 million.
