About Beihai Old Street
Beihai Old Street—Zhuhai Road is an old street with a history spanning nearly 200 years. It was founded in 1821 and was initially known as Shengping Street, measuring just 200 meters in length and 4 meters in width. With the continuous development of various historical periods, it has now grown to 1.44 kilometers in length and 9 meters in width, featuring a commercial old street lined with Chinese–Western fusion arcade-style buildings. Most of these buildings are two to three stories tall, largely influenced by Western columnar architecture—such as that built by Britain, France, Germany, and other countries in our city at the end of the 19th century, including consulates.
