About Kunlun Pass
Kunlun Pass is located at the junction between Binyang County in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, and Kunlun Town in Xingning District, Nanning City. It lies 56 kilometers from the city center and 30.5 kilometers from Binyang County seat. Due to its strategic location at the intersection of the Yongli Highway, it is known as “the Heavenly Fortress of the South.” Legend has it that it was built by General Fubo Ma Yuan of the Han Dynasty, with a history spanning more than a thousand years. Historically, nine major battles took place there, with the night raid led by Di Qing during the Song Dynasty against Nong Zhigao and the Kunlun Pass Battle between China and Japan in 1939 being the most famous. The latter battle resulted in the destruction of thousands of Japanese troops.
