About Qingyan ancient town, Guiyang 25
Qingyan Ancient Town is located in the southern part of Huaxi District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, 29 kilometers from downtown Guiyang and 12 kilometers from Huaxi District. It served as an important military stronghold during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Founded in the 11th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1378), Qingyan Ancient Town has a history spanning more than 600 years and evolved from a military fortress into a mountainous military town. According to the Ming Hongzhi “Guizhou Tujing Xin Zhi,” Qingyan Fort was situated at the foot of Qingyan Mountain, fifty li south of “Guiyang City” (today’s Guiyang City), hence its name “Qingyan Fort.” The Qingyan Ancient Road is an important section of the Tea-Horse Road, serving as a vital route connecting Guizhou to Guangxi and Guangdong.
