About Huhehaote Museum
The Hohhot Museum was established in 1989 and was officially established on March 20, 1990. In February 2023, the Hohhot Museum was merged and established as a deputy department-level unit (a national first-level museum), implementing a museum "general branch" system. The Hohhot Museum, together with the General Office Museum, Zhaojun Museum, Princess Mansion Museum, Wuta Temple Museum, and Fengzhou Ancient City Museum, form six branches. Hohhot Museum (White Horse Museum) is located at the former site of Inner Mongolia Museum. It was built in 1957. It is one of the historical landmark buildings in Hohhot City and an autonomous region-level cultural relics protection unit. In 2009, it was rated as a national second-level museum. Because of the shape of a white horse galloping in the sky at its top, it is called the "Big White Horse Museum".
