About return forest
The Return Forest is a cultural and ecological forest built to commemorate the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland. It is located in Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, Dabo Mountain at Guangming Farm in Shenzhen City, Xianhu Botanical Garden and other places. Among them, the Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Return Forest covers an area of nearly 30,000 square meters and is planted with 97 redbud trees, 99 lotus magnolia trees and 100 red cotton trees, symbolizing the return of Hong Kong and Macao; the Shenzhen Guangming Farm Dabo Mountain Return Forest consists of 1,997 lychee trees and has a Return Pavilion. In March 1997, Shenzhen organized nearly 2,000 young people from Shenzhen and Hong Kong to plant 1,997 agarwood seedlings in the Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, forming a returning forest in the shape of a Chinese map.
