About Guangzhou Forest of Steles
Guangzhou Forest of Steles is located in Jiulongquan Scenic Area, Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, with Mount Mosing Ridge at its back, covering an area of 16,000 square meters. Its predecessor was the Baiyun Temple built in the Song Dynasty. The temple was destroyed during the Anti-Japanese War. In 1992, it was rebuilt into the Forest of Steles with investment from the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government, and Municipal People's Congress. It was officially opened to the outside world in 1994. The forest of steles is divided into three scenic areas: Moyan Carving Area, Nanya Hall and Xianmoxuan. It displays nearly 300 steles, including poems and calligraphy of literati from past dynasties praising Lingnan and Baiyun Mountain. Jiulong Spring is located in the Forest of Steles. According to legend, it was the hermitage of An Qisheng in the Qin Dynasty.
