About Minghua
The Minghua Ship is China's first international tourist ship. It was built by the French Atlantique Shipyard in 1962. It has a gross tonnage of 14,424 tons, a total length of 168 meters, and a width of 21.8 meters. French President Charles de Gaulle presided over the launching ceremony. The ship was originally named "ANCERVILLE". It was renamed Minghua Ship in 1973 after being purchased with the approval of Premier Zhou Enlai. It has carried out evacuation missions from Southeast Asia and friendly exchanges between China and Japan. In 1978, it completed the evacuation of overseas Chinese from Vietnam and Cambodia. In 1979, it went to Thailand to pick up workers who were aiding Cambodia. In 1979, it became China's first ocean liner equipped with satellite communication equipment. In December of the same year, it launched its international tourism business on its maiden voyage to Sydney.
