About Wangyan Tower

Wangyan Tower is located in Fenghuang Mountain, Fuyong Street, Bao'an District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. Its legend originates from Fuyong folk stories. It describes Wen Yinglin, the nephew of the famous Southern Song Dynasty minister Wen Tianxiang and the grandson of Wen Bi, who lived in seclusion in Fuyong during the Dade Period of the Yuan Dynasty (1297-1307). He judged the suffering of the people by looking at the village smoke from the top of the mountain and provided timely relief to the victims. The legend has been included in the Guangdong Province Intangible Cultural Heritage List. In order to facilitate the observation, Wen Yinglin initially built a temporary observation tower on the top of Fenghuang Mountain.
