About Shengfeng Lou

Shengfeng Tower is a watchtower located in Jinjiangli Village, Xianggang Town, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. It is an important part of the Jinjiangli Watchtower Group. The building was built by Huang Fengxiu, an overseas Chinese who went to the United States to make a living in his early years and later became rich in business. He returned to his hometown in 1919. The name of the building "Shengfeng" means family happiness and a prosperous career. Shengfeng Building is a seven-story building with a reinforced concrete structure that combines Western and South Asian and Indian styles. After Huang Fengxiu returned to China in his later years, he lived here until his death. In 2001, Shengfeng Tower was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit. In 2007, Jinjiangli, where it is located, was included in the World Heritage List as part of the "Kaiping Diaolou and Villages".
