About Eight Scenes of Yangcheng
The Eight Scenic Spots of Guangzhou are eight representative landscapes selected in the past dynasties of Guangzhou. They began in the Song Dynasty and cover natural and cultural attractions. In the Song Dynasty, eight sceneries such as Fuxu Bathing Day and Shimen Reflection were established for the first time. In the Yuan Dynasty, some of them were retained and the Guangdong and Taiwan Autumn Moon were added. In 1963, Baiyun Songtao and Luogang Xiangxue were added, and in 1986 Huanghua Haoqi and Liuhua Yuyu were included. The 2002 selection activity was launched on August 23, 2001. More than 20 expert reviewers and 620,000 citizens voted to select from 30 candidate scenic spots. After a year of demonstration, eight scenic spots including the Ancient Temple Liufang and the Five Rings Dawn were determined.
