About Zongjing Villa
Zongjing Villa is located in Meiyuan and was built in 1923 on the occasion of Rong Zongjing's fiftieth birthday. The building is a brick-wood structure with three bungalows, built against a mountain. There is a verandah in front of the room. On the east side there is a cylindrical brick decoration imitating a Roman-style vault, covered with green iron sheets. During renovation in 1985, an underground passage about 30 meters long, 2 meters high and 0.8 meters wide was discovered under the corridor. It was restored to its original appearance after an overhaul in 2001. In 2006, a bronze statue of Rong Zongjing was erected in front of the hall, and pictures related to the entrepreneurial history of the Rong brothers were displayed in the hall.
