About Sheng Xuanhuai Residence
Sheng Xuanhuai Residence, also known as Sheng Mansion, is located at No. 1517 Huaihai Middle Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, on the east side of the Shanghai Library. It was built in the 26th year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1900). It covers an area of 12,424 square meters, with a garden area of 6,349 square meters and a construction area of more than 1,700 square meters. Sheng Xuanhuai's residence is a neoclassical-style garden residence with a three-story brick-concrete structure, divided into a main building and side wings. The facade is symmetrical and the main entrance faces south. The building follows the French style of ancient Greek and Roman architecture, emphasizing uniformity and strict symmetry.
