About Palcho Monastery

Baiju Temple, known as "Bangkor Qude" in Tibetan, meaning "Auspicious Wheel of Great Music Temple", is located in Gyantse Town, Gyantse County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region. It is surrounded by mountains to the south, north and east, and the temple is surrounded by water on all sides. It is about 230 kilometers south of Lhasa, more than 100 kilometers east of Shigatse, and 3,900 meters above sea level. It is a temple where the Sakya sect, Shalu sect and Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism coexist. Baiju Temple was built in the second year of Xuande (1427), the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Ming Dynasty, and took 10 years to complete. It is a typical Tibetan Buddhist temple building that combines a pagoda and a temple. There is a temple in the pagoda and a pagoda in the temple. The temple and pagoda are naturally integrated and complement each other.
