About Huishan Temple
Huishan Temple is located at the foot of Jicui Peak at the southern foot of Songshan Mountain, 6 kilometers north of Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It was first built during the period of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (471-499). It was the ordination center for monks in the ancient Songshan area. Together with Shaolin Temple, Fawang Temple and Songyue Temple, it is also known as the four major temples in Songshan Mountain. Huishan Temple faces south from the north and has two existing courtyards, 11 buildings in the west courtyard and 7 in the east courtyard. Among them, the Main Hall was built in the Yuan Dynasty and has been rebuilt many times. Its building has far-reaching eaves and huge dougongs. It is the only Yuan Dynasty wooden structure building in the Songshan area.
