About Lingbao Pagoda
Lingbao Pagoda is located on the top of Lingbao Peak in Lingyun Mountain, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It was built in the 10th year of Tiansheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1032). It is a 13-story square brick tower with dense eaves, with a residual height of 29.29 meters (some say 38 meters). The tower faces east to west, with a base length of 11 meters. There is a semicircular arch door on the bottom floor, and the main entrance is on the west. There are 97 red sandstone steps inside that can spiral to the top. There are niches and light windows around the tower, which has the functions of a stupa and a shipping navigation mark in Sanjiang. It is now a national key cultural relic protection unit (incorporated into the Leshan Giant Buddha). There was a dispute between the Tang and Song Dynasties when the tower was built.
