About Zhongshan Road Historical and Cultural District

Zhongshan Road Historical and Cultural Block is located in Meijiang District, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. It was announced as the fourth batch of Guangdong Province Historical and Cultural Blocks on June 8, 2023. The neighborhood was built in the 1930s, and the streets and lanes have a fishbone road network structure. A mixture of Chinese and Western arcade-style Hakka houses are preserved in the block, forming a complex of arcade commercial buildings with "shops in the front, workshops in the back, and bedrooms upstairs". During the Republic of China, Zhongshan Road was the foothold of overseas Chinese and a hub of business circulation.
