About Former Residence of Xu Guangqi
Xu Guangqi's former residence, also known as "Jiujian Building", is located at No. 234-244 Qiaojia Road, Xiaodongmen Street, Huangpu District, Shanghai. It was built during the Ming Dynasty and is the birthplace of Xu Guangqi, an agronomist, astronomer and mathematician of the Ming Dynasty in China. Xu Guangqi's former residence was originally a courtyard with three entrances and three exits, with more than 100 rooms in it. It was destroyed twice in the early Qing Dynasty and the late Republic of China. Now there is only a two-story building with brick and wood structure. It has seven rooms in width, about 8 meters in height, and each room is about 5 meters in width and depth. About 10 meters, with a construction area of 290 square meters, it adopts a stacked beam frame shape with a slightly higher "convex" shape in the middle. The roof is a hard gable roof.
