About Fengxian Cave
Dafengxian Temple is a wooden temple in the Tang Dynasty. It is the ancestral temple of Esoteric Buddhism and one of the ten Longmen temples. It is located on the high platform south of the entrance to the west mountain of Longmen, Luoyang and on the high platform in the north of Weiwan Village. The temple was built by Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty in the first year of Tiaolu (679) and was personally inscribed on the temple's forehead. It was once responsible for the management of the Longmen Dashena Statue Niche (the two are not the same building). Later, in the 10th year of Kaiyuan (722), it was damaged by the Yishui flood and merged with Longhua Temple.
