About Siyue Academy

Siyue Academy is located on the Dongmen Pedestrian Street in Luohu District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It was built by the Zhang clan members of Shuibei, Hubei and Xiangxi villages to commemorate their ancestor Zhang Siyue. The original site is located at No. 22 Nanqing Street. It belongs to the Guangfu Lingnan architectural style. The existing building is an antique building that was demolished in 1996 and rebuilt in 1999. It covers an area of 228 square meters and retains the three-bay structure and the appearance of blue bricks and black tiles. The building was originally a place that functioned as both an ancestral hall and a private school. It mainly provided educational services for the children of the Zhang clan and surrounding villagers. It has gone through many revolutionary wars.
