About Guangdong Foreign Affairs Museum
The Guangdong Foreign Affairs Museum is located at No. 20, Shamian South Street, Liwan District, Guangzhou. This Baroque-style building built in 1890 was originally the French Consulate in Guangzhou during the Republic of China. It has a total construction area of 1,600 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 1,200 square meters. It was officially opened on November 26, 2012. As the country's first local public welfare foreign affairs museum and a national key cultural relics protection unit, it is now open to the public free of charge and can be visited every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 09:00-11:30. There are more than 280 exhibits in the museum, including foreign affairs gifts from 122 sister provinces and states around the world, century-old photos of Shamian, and historical relics.
