About Harbin Jewish History and Cultural Exhibition
The Harbin Jewish History and Culture Museum is located at No. 82 Tongjiang Street, Daoli District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. Its predecessor was the Old Jewish Synagogue completed on January 15, 1909, and was designed by architect Katz Kirei. The museum was opened to the public after renovations in 2004, and was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit in 2013. The building was originally a place for religious activities of the Jewish community. After a fire in 1931, it was restored at the end of that year. At the beginning of the 21st century, Harbin City implemented a project to preserve and renovate Jewish buildings, renovating and restoring the synagogue to its original appearance based on the principle of "repairing the old as before".
