About Shanghai Film Museum

The Shanghai Film Museum is located in the Shanghai Film Group Building at No. 595 Caoxi North Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, with a total investment of 900 million yuan and a total construction area of more than 100,000 square meters. It is the largest film industry museum in China and was formerly the original site of Shanghai Film Studio. The museum was put into trial operation in May 2013 and officially opened on June 16 of the same year. It is closed every Monday (except statutory holidays). The main building includes a four-story exhibition hall and a group of historical buildings (the Huang Building was originally the monastery of the Catholic nuns of the Holy Cloth Monastery and was built in 1874). The museum has four themed exhibition areas, Studio 5, and a 4D art cinema.
