About The former site of Yongning Telegraph Bureau
The former site of the Yongning Telegraph Bureau is located at No. 55 Mingde Street, Qingxiu District, Nanning City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is an important modern historical site and representative building. In 2002, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection building in Nanning City. In 2019, it was selected into the list of industrial cultural heritage (information and communication industry) of central enterprises. The building was built in 1884. It is a combination of Chinese and Western style with "Chinese roof and French walls". It covers an area of about 1,200 square meters and adopts the courtyard layout of five entrances and four wells of traditional Nanning houses. Its construction is directly related to the Guangzhou-Longzhou telegraph line (the first telegraph line in Guangxi) established in 1884 due to the Sino-French War.
