About MOCA Shanghai

The Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai (MOCA Shanghai) is a non-profit private art institution located at Gate 7 of People's Park, Nanjing West Road, Shanghai. It was funded and built by the Gong Mingguang Foundation and operates independently with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Government. It was established in 2005. The museum building was originally a glass greenhouse in People's Park, which was later renovated by Hong Kong architect Liu Yuyang. The museum cultivates public art appreciation through exhibitions, education and international exchange activities. It is managed by a team with rich curatorial experience and is committed to promoting Chinese and global contemporary art. Executive Director Sun Wenqian actively promotes the integration of "cross-border+" science and art, and has led a team to participate in the Venice Biennale.
