About Erquan Academy
Erquan Academy, located at No. 53, Tingsongfang, Huishan, Liangxi District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, is a private academy built by Shao Bao, a rural sage in the Ming Dynasty, in the 11th year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1516). Erquan Academy has three entrances and two verandahs. The first entrance hall has four rooms. It has a hard mountain top and a large wind-fire wall. It is an architectural style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are drum stones on both sides of the door. A seal script "Erquan Academy" plaque hangs on the door. On the lintels on the two sides of the back corridor, there are brick carvings of "washing inkstones" and "collecting books". There are stone carvings in the north corner of the foyer, echoing the inkstone washing pool. The second entrance is to the top of the mountain, a two-column-walled building, and a patio in front.
