About Anyang Academy
Anyang Academy is a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province (announced in 2006), located in Xindu Village, Yangshan Town, Huishan District, Wuxi City. The academy was founded in the third year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1864). It was built with donations raised by the township director Qian Xu and completed in the eighth year of Guangxu (1882). After Qian Xu died in the war, his younger brother Qian Zui inherited his legacy of establishing an academy. It took fifteen years from 1867 to 1882 to build the academy. The name comes from the historical origin of the Anyang Marquis fiefdom. The existing buildings of the academy are in the Qing Dynasty layout of "two entrances and two wings", surrounded by corridors on three sides and a patio in the middle. They are all hard-topped buildings with more than 80 acres of academic land and a construction area of 480 square meters.
