About gold museum
The Gold Museum is located next to Benshan Wukeng in the Gold Museum Park, Jinguang Road, Jinguashi, Ruifang District, New Taipei City. It was formerly the office of Taiwan Metal Mining Corporation and is Taiwan's first eco-museum. The museum was built based on the history of the Jinguashi Mining Area, which was known as "Asia's No. 1 Precious Metal Mine" due to its rich gold, silver and copper mines during the Japanese occupation. In 2002, the Taipei County Government planned the Jinguashi area as an ecological museum park. The museum presents the development history of the local mining industry through a permanent exhibition system, covering historical stages from the Age of Discovery in the 16th century to the closure of the Taijin Company in 1987.
