About Nanjing Geological Museum
The Nanjing Geological Museum is located on Zhujiang Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It was built in 1935 and was formerly known as the Geological and Mineral Exhibition Hall of the Central Geological Survey. It is one of the oldest natural science museums in China and the first professional museum in China with geology and minerals as its main content. Its predecessor was the Mineral Exhibition Hall of the Central Geological Survey established in 1913. It is the birthplace of Chinese geological science and the cradle of training Chinese geologists. As of 2022, there are 20,034 pieces/set of cultural relics in the collection, and the total number of annual visitors is 48,902. The Nanjing Geological Museum is affiliated to the Jiangsu Geological Survey Institute.
