About Nanjing Confucius Temple
Nanjing Confucius Temple, also known as Nanjing Confucius Temple in English, is located on the north bank of the Qinhuai River in Qinhua District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, west of Gongyuan Street and the Jiangnan Confucius Temple. Situated in the core area of the Nanjing Confucius Temple–Qinhuai River Scenic Belt—specifically at the site of the Nanjing Confucius Temple, the Nanjing Confucius Temple, and the Wenxuanwang Temple—it has long served as a place for worship and sacrifice to Confucius. It is China’s first national top-tier institution of higher learning, one of China’s Four Great Confucius Temples, a hub of ancient Chinese culture, and a gathering place for the rich cultural heritage of Jinling.
