About Jurong City Museum

Jurong City Museum (Municipal Xianwu Culture Museum) is a comprehensive museum of local history and culture located south of the Visitor Center of Maoshan Scenic Area, Jurong City, Jiangsu Province. It was formed by the merger of the original Jurong City Museum and the Xianwu Culture Museum. It was formerly the Jurong City Museum established in 1995. Gexian Lake Park was the old museum site before the merger and is now under the Jurong City Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau. The current building is designed according to the layout of Huayang Academy in the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 25 acres and has a total construction area of 6,230 square meters. It contains seven antique buildings. Among them, the Yimen is the remnant of Huayang Academy that was relocated during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty.
