About Nanjing Municipal Museum
Nanjing Museum is located in Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is a branch of the Nanjing Museum General Museum. It is a comprehensive history and art museum. It is the Nanjing Municipal Museum, one of the national key museums, and a patriotic education base for Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City. Its predecessor was the Nanjing Municipal Cultural Relics Preservation Committee established in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 1973, the Nanjing Municipal Museum was established (officially listed in 1978). The Nanjing Municipal Museum is responsible for the archaeological excavation and investigation of underground sites and ancient tombs in the Nanjing area, the protection of cultural relics, and the collection and storage of collections.
