About Lao She's former residence
Lao She's Former Residence (Camel Xiangzi Museum) is located at No. 12 Huangxian Road, Shinan District, Qingdao City. It is a key provincial cultural relic protection unit in Shandong Province. It is the first thematic memorial hall in China named after the literary work "Camel Xiangzi". The building is a two-story German-style building with a masonry structure. It was built in the 1920s. Lao She lived here from 1934 to 1937 when he was employed at Shandong University, during which time he completed masterpieces such as "Camel Xiangzi" and "Crescent Moon". The former residence was proposed by Shu Yi, Lao She's son. It is modeled after the Russian "Katyusha Memorial Hall" and has five major exhibition areas including the preface hall and edition hall, displaying manuscripts, daily necessities and martial arts equipment.
