About Cao Cao's troop movement
The Cao Cao Military Transport Tunnel, also known as the Cao Cao Hidden Troops Tunnel, is located beneath the main streets of Laocheng in Bozhou City, Anhui Province. Centered around Da Yu Shou, it extends in all directions, leading out of the city. It is China’s oldest and best-preserved large-scale underground military facility, renowned as the “Great Wall Beneath the Earth.” Construction of the tunnel began at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty and was built by Cao Cao, the Emperor Wu of Wei. It was renovated and used numerous times during the Tang and Song Dynasties; in the fourth year of the Jiaxi reign of the Southern Song Dynasty, it became silted up and buried deep due to a breach in the Yellow River. During the excavation of an air-raid shelter in 1969, nearly 8,000 meters of tunnels were discovered.
