About Shaanxi Archaeological Museum
Shaanxi Archaeological Museum is located on the northeast side of the intersection of Wenyuan South Road and Zhongnan Avenue in Chang'an District, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. It covers an area of 250 acres, with a total construction area of 35,000 square meters, an indoor exhibition area of 5,800 square meters, and an outdoor exhibition area of 10,000 square meters. It is China's first archaeological museum. In 2012, Shaanxi Province planned to build China's first archaeological museum. On April 28, 2022, the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum opened on a trial basis. As of April 2022, the Shaanxi Archaeological Research Institute, the builder of the Shaanxi Archaeological Museum, has collected more than 200,000 cultural relic specimens unearthed from sites and tombs in various historical periods starting from the Paleolithic Age.
