About Shen Deqian's former residence
Shen Deqian's former residence is located at No. 26 Kuojiatou Lane, Daichengqiao Road, Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It is adjacent to Master of the Nets Garden in the east. It was built before the 11th year of Qianlong's reign (1746). It was originally a seven-entry courtyard. It now has a screen wall, foyer, sedan hall (the second entrance of Kongzhai on Yiduobin Lane was moved), hall and Dongbei Lane that runs through the front and rear, covering an area of about 480 square meters. The hall "Jiao Zhong Hall" has a width of 10.8 meters and a depth of 11.6 meters. It retains the architectural features of the early Qing Dynasty such as nanmu columns and flat beams. After renovations were carried out from 1995 to 1996, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou in 1998. Shen Deqian was a native of Suzhou in the Qing Dynasty.
