About Longshan Cultural Museum
Longshan Cultural Museum is located in Longshan Street, Zhangqiu District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. It was originally called Chengziya Ruins Museum. In the spring of 1928, archaeologist Wu Jinding discovered the Chengziya ruins. Later, Jinan and Zhangqiu jointly invested more than 6 million yuan to build the museum in 1994. It was renamed after renovation and upgrade in 2012, and it was officially opened for operation on September 10, 2013. With a total construction area of 4,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,000 square meters, it is the first prehistoric site museum in Shandong. The building was designed by Yang Hongxun of the Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It adopts a castle-like shape that imitates the earthen city of primitive society.
