About Qingdao 1907 Movie Museum
Qingdao Film Museum is located on the third floor of the 1907 Light and Shadow Club at No. 17 Hubei Road, Shinan District, Qingdao. This building is the former site of the Sailor Club. It was designed in 1899 and completed in 1902. It is the first auditorium, cinema, and first cultural complex in Qingdao, and is also the earliest existing cinema in China. The museum follows the protection and utilization principle of "original buildings, original facilities, and original functions". In August 2024, it was recognized as a national third-level museum; in December of the same year, it was approved as the Cross-Strait Youth Film and Television Culture Exchange Center in Shandong Province. In 1907, the Sailors' Club began showing commercial films. In 2014, the building began conservation and restoration projects.
