About Hehuatang Historical and Cultural District
Hehuatang Historical and Cultural Block is a historical and cultural block located in the west area of Chengnanmen, Qinhuai District, Nanjing. It is a typical representative of Nanjing's silk handicraft industry area during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the residential area with the clearest historical pattern and the most complete traditional style. It is known as the "living fossil" of traditional Ming and Qing dwellings. The block covers an area of approximately 12.56 hectares and includes 14 historical streets and lanes such as Mingyang Street and Shuizhai'an. The existing buildings are in a mixed layout and are in urgent need of repair and renovation. Starting from 2022, a "small-scale, progressive" update model will be implemented, and a strategy of equal emphasis on hazardous building treatment and residential function preservation will be adopted.
