Gaotang Confucian Temple is located on the west side of the south end of Beihu Road in Gaotang County. It is now a provincial cultural relic protection unit and is also known as Li Kuchan Juvenile Reading Center. Its original name is "Wenchang Palace", also known as "Qisheng Temple". According to "Gaotang Prefecture Chronicles", the Confucian Temple was built between the Yuan Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt and expanded many times in the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1370), the forty-eighth year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1709), and the seventh year of Qianlong (1742).
