About Taipingmen

Taipingmen is one of the thirteen Ming Dynasty capital gates on the Nanjing Ming City Wall. It is located at the south end of Longpan Road, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. It faces south and faces north. It is the north gate of Yingtianfu, the capital of the Ming Dynasty. Outside the gate is the Sanfasi. The wall on the east side of the city gate is called the "Dragon's Neck" because it is where the dragon veins of the Ming Dynasty are located. Therefore, it is the only section of the Nanjing city wall without a moat. Taiping Gate is a single-hole city gate with a gate. The two wings of the city wall are built against the mountains. It surrounds Zhoushan in the west and Fugui Mountain in the east. The city gate is framed between the two mountains. It is located at the junction of Xuanwu Lake and Zijin Mountain according to the danger of the mountain and lake.
