About Wild Goose Pagoda Morning Bell

The Wild Goose Pagoda Morning Bell is one of the "Eight Scenic Spots in Guanzhong" in the Qing Dynasty. It consists of the small Wild Goose Pagoda in the Jianfu Temple in the south of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, and the ancient bell in the bell tower of the Jianfu Temple. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was built during the Jinglong period of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty (707-710). It is a square brick pagoda with dense eaves. It has 13 levels and a height of 43.3 meters. It was used to store Buddhist scriptures and Buddha relics brought back from Tianzhu by the eminent monk Yijing of the Tang Dynasty. The ancient bell cast in the third year of Jin Mingchang (1192) was originally a relic of the Wugong Chongjiao Zen Temple. It is 3.55 meters high and weighs about 8,000 kilograms. The clock is cast with more than a thousand words of inscriptions.
