About Statue of Big Buddha Head
The Big Buddha Head is a Buddha head carved on a cliff located in Fohui Mountain, southeast of Qianfo Mountain in Jinan City, Shandong Province. It was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Jinan City in 1979 and is open to the public free of charge. The renovation and protection project will be completed in 2023. The carved chest and shoulders of the Buddha statue are 7.8 meters high and 4 meters wide. On the east wall of the Buddhist niche, there is an inscription of "Great Compassion and Great Compassion" from the Ming Dynasty. The plaque on the arch in front of the statue is "Main Xiong Hall" written by Zhang Yinglin in the late Qing Dynasty. Fohui Mountain was called Dafo Mountain in ancient times, with an altitude of 460 meters. "Foshan Appreciating Chrysanthemums" is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Jinan.
