About Inner Mongolia Art Museum
The Inner Mongolia Art Museum was founded in 1957. It is the first art museum built in a minority area in the country. It was designed by the famous architect I.M. Pei. When viewed from the sky, it shows an auspicious "winding pattern" pattern. It is located at the intersection of Xinhua Street and Silk Road Avenue in Saihan District, Hohhot City. The old museum was demolished and rebuilt in 1992, and was completed and opened in April 1997. In 2015, the new museum started construction as a celebration project for the 70th anniversary of the autonomous region. It was officially opened on August 4, 2017 and is open to the public free of charge. It has a total construction area of 35,893 square meters, with 12 exhibition halls and 2 collection storage areas. In March 2025, it was included in the first batch of state-owned public welfare collection units.
