About Master-of-Nets Garden
Master-of-Nets Garden is located at No. 11 Kuojiatou Lane, Daichengqiao Road, southeast of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, about 120 kilometers away from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. It is a representative work of medium-sized classical landscape gardens in Suzhou. Master of the Nets Garden was first built in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279 AD). It was the former site of the "Wanjuan Hall" of Yangzhou scholar Shi Zhengzhi, a book collector and official in the Song Dynasty. The garden was named "Yuyin" and was later abandoned. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (about 1770 AD), the retired Shaoqing of Guanglu Temple, Song Zongyuan, purchased and rebuilt it, and named the garden "Master of the Nets Garden". Master of the Nets Garden changed its owner several times, and most of the owners were literati.
