About A paradise on earth
Dammei Scenic Area is located within the borders of Guangnan County, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, at the junction of Akou Township and Bada Township in the north. It features karst landforms and is a AAAA-level tourist attraction. Thanks to its unique karst topography, sinkholes, rivers, and villages—similar to the Peach Blossom Land described by the Jin Dynasty literary figure Tao Yuanming—Dammei is often compared to a paradise on earth. “Dammei” is a phonetic transliteration of the Zhuang language, meaning “cave entrance in the forest.” Access to and from Dammei Village requires a water route: first take a horse-drawn carriage, then transfer to a boat, where a boatman uses bamboo poles to guide the vessel through the dark, secluded water caves.
