About Old Bund of Ningbo

Ningbo Old Bund, commonly known as "Jiangbei'an", is located in Jiangbei District, the north bank of Sanjiangkou, Jiangbei District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province (where the Yongjiang River, Fenghua River and Yuyao River converge). It is the gateway to the ancient city of Ningbo. In the Tang Dynasty, it was one of the four major ports in China, and became the starting point for Jianzhen's eastward voyage; in the Southern Song Dynasty, it was one of the three major ports in China, and a municipal shipping department was set up to manage foreign trade; after the Treaty of Nanjing was signed, Ningbo became one of the "five trade ports" and officially opened on January 1, 1844. The "Bund" comes from the English "Y-town" (Y-shaped city). Ningbo Old Bund was developed as a commercial tourism project after 1992, and Ningbo Old Bund has become a famous landscape in Ningbo.
