About Dujiangyan

Dujiangyan, located in the western part of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, sits on the Min River in the western section of the Chengdu Plain. It is a massive engineering system composed of the headworks hub (Yuzui, Feisha Yan, Baopingkou), water diversion channels at various levels within the irrigation district, various engineering structures, as well as large, medium, and small reservoirs and ponds. The headworks area covers more than 200 mu. It serves to irrigate over 11.65 million mu of farmland across 8 cities (prefectures), 41 counties (cities, districts) in the central and western parts of the Sichuan Basin, and provides water supply for numerous key enterprises in Chengdu and for urban residents’ domestic use.
