About Qingdao Sky City
Qingdao Tianmu City is a distinctive commercial street located in the Shikou District of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, and was completed in 2007. Formerly the site of an old factory building belonging to the Qingdao Silk Weaving Factory, it has been renovated and now operates as an indoor pedestrian street. Its core features include a massive “Sky Curtain” that uses sound, light, and electrical technology to create stunning sky-inspired scenes, as well as a Baroque-style architectural complex featuring miniature replicas of more than twenty historical Qingdao buildings, including the former Governor-General’s Office of Jiaozhou. The project was once awarded National AAAA-level Tourist Scenic Area status, but its qualification was later revoked in 2016. In 2023, Tianmu City began a comprehensive demolition and renovation project, transforming itself into an open-air urban district.
