About Xi'an City Wall
The Xi’an City Wall Scenic Area, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, is a circular scenic area centered around the ancient city wall of Xi’an, integrating the moat, the ring-shaped forest belt surrounding the city (including the outer edge of the city river), and Shuncheng Road into a unified whole. The total planned area of the scenic area is approximately 4,530,820 square meters, comprising 611,575 square meters of moat, 1,920,133 square meters of the ring-shaped forest belt, 359,112 square meters of the city wall, and 1,640,000 square meters of Shuncheng Road. Construction of the Xi’an City Wall began in the seventh to eleventh years of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1374–1378) and was expanded upon the foundations of the Imperial City of Chang’an during the Tang Dynasty and the Fengyuan City during the Yuan Dynasty. Its outline forms a closed rectangular shape.
